Crush Culture Music Video

The music video my group chose to recreate for this project was Crush Culture by Conan Gray. My group of Jaden, Savannah, Layne, and I each started by brainstorming possible music videos that would be reasonable to try and recreate. What really drove our decision was the fact that props were cheap, costumes were minimal, and there were multiple scenes shot at school which would allow us to maximize out class time and get a lot of filming done at school.

During pre-production, things were running quickly and smoothly. We storyboarded, casted, and scheduled filming with plans to shoot the next week. However, while in the filming process, we ran into some issues. We learned the hard way that it's important to account for weather when creating film schedules. With all the snow days we had days off, we missed out on valuable block days to film. In addition, our team failed to communicated at times, which led to frustration and we weren't making the most of our time.

Over the few weeks, I learned many takeaways that I'll implement in my next project. Keeping a hard copy of film plans is always a good idea for when technology fails. Also, creating groupchats for the group to communicate outside of class keeps the team running smoothly. It's always helpful working with the cameras more and improving Premiere techniques with each assignment. as well.
