Overview of project
For this project we were assigned to take a HTML file and add CSS to make the webpage more visually appealing. We started by taking a bland white background with black text and skewed placements of text. By using Dreamweaver, we were able to use our knowledge of the CARP design process to change text color, size and font, word alignment, and background colors. Within the software, we used split view between design and code view to make changes to each selector such as the body, notice, and headings.
How the CARP design process was applied
Contrast- Contrast was applied by changing the color of different text sets. The tan heading against the white text box and the white text box against the black background makes the page pop.
Alignment-Alignment is shown on the web page by the placement of text. The poem is left aligned while the poem heading is centered. It makes it easy for the eye to follow the flow of the page.
Repetition- Throughout the page there is some repetition. This can be found between the color of the link and the title of the poem. This helps with fluency throughout the page and helps it look professional.
Proximity- An example of proximity in this piece can be shown by the placement of the dog on the right hand side of the page. Spreading out the different components of the page helps it not seem as cluttered.
Wrap Up
This web project has allowed me to improve my web design skills. I've learned how to work with each different selector and the properties within. My favorite part was comparing the beginning and final products. It makes you realize how much CSS can add to a piece of work.
